We escaped to the dreamy shores of Mauritius — and I’ve been excited to share this with you ever since. From beachside breakfasts to feeding giant tortoises, this was one of those unforgettable trips that stays with you long after your tan fades.
Our hotel in Mauritius
We stayed at C Mauritius, a relaxed four-star luxury resort located on the island’s east coast. The area is known for its long, pristine beaches and quiet charm — perfect if you're looking to disconnect and lean into a slower rhythm.

The hotel itself had a young, fresh feel with loads of little touches that made the stay feel premium without being over the top. From beachfront games and music to water sports and outdoor yoga, the vibe was chilled but still buzzing with energy. The room was spacious and stylish, and the staff? So warm and attentive — it felt like coming home every time we stepped back in.

Food & Drink
I'll be honest — I'm usually sceptical about all-inclusive hotels, but the food at C Mauritius completely won me over. It was such a lovely surprise: creative, fresh, and with genuine variety. The menus leaned into a blend of French and international cuisine with island flair, and there was a live cooking station at every mealtime — whether that was made-to-order eggs at breakfast or grilled fish and meats at dinner.
We also loved the on-site café — a perfect spot for a relaxed lunch of pizza, fresh salads, and a drink or two. My fiancé enjoyed the local Foxy IPA, while I opted for crisp white wines and cucumber cocktails that were delicious!

My favourite food experience at the hotel was undoubtedly the unforgettable barbecue on the beach, an event that perfectly combined the natural beauty of the coastline with a vibrant atmosphere, live DJ and lots of Prosecco! As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, the sound of waves gently lapping against the shore provided a serene backdrop to the lively gathering.

In terms of food outside the hotel, the highlight was a private dinner hosted by a local chef in her garden — a magical evening filled with homecooked food, and Mauritian hospitality at its best. I started with an avocado salad so fresh it barely needed dressing, followed by juicy prawns, grilled to perfection, and paired with a chilled glass of white wine.

Experiences
While we spent most of our days unwinding by the pool or on the beach, we did carve out time for a few beautiful experiences. A day trip to the Bois Cheri Tea Factory gave us a glimpse into the island’s history and its lush, green interior — totally different from the coastal scenes we were used to.
We also visited La Vanille Nature Park where we had the chance to feed giant tortoises. It was both surreal and oddly moving — they're such gentle creatures, and it’s not every day you get that close to something so ancient and peaceful.

The Verdict
Mauritius is a perfect mix of ease and elegance — great if you're looking to recharge somewhere warm with a bit of soul. Whether you're travelling as a couple, solo, or with a small group, the east coast in particular has this calm, understated charm that’s hard not to love.
If you're thinking about your next long-haul holiday, consider this your sign.
