Paris — a city that’s both timeless and ever-changing. We had the most fantastic time, and with us living in North London, it was super easy to hop on the Eurostar from Kings Cross. In just over two hours, we were in the heart of Paris, ready to make the most of our 48-hour adventure. For me, Paris is undoubtedly one of the most romantic cities in the world, and I couldn’t wait to experience it with my partner. We only had a short time, so I carefully planned everything to maximise our stay.

A convenient place to stay in Paris

We checked into Hotel La Nouvelle République & SPA, nestled in a charming, non-touristy area near the Atelier des Lumières. It wasn’t the plushest hotel, but it was comfortable, modern, and incredibly convenient. The best part? It wasn’t in one of those tourist traps — you know, the places that charge ridiculous prices just for being close to landmarks. Here, we had easy access to the Metro, only a 3-4 minute walk, and the area was full of amazing cafes, local restaurants, and bars. It gave us a taste of authentic Parisian life without the hustle and bustle of the major tourist spots.

Exploring the City

There’s something so magical about wandering the streets of Paris. Whether you’re exploring Montmartre or just strolling along the Seine, the beauty of the city unfolds around you. We started with Montmartre — the hill in the 18th arrondissement. It’s the perfect spot for art lovers, with its cobblestone streets and creative history.

We spent hours soaking in the atmosphere, admiring the artists, and just enjoying the view. The Eiffel Tower was, of course, a must-see.

We went in the evening, strolling along the Seine as the sky turned golden. Watching the sun set is a moment I’ll never forget.

Afterward, we indulged in a comedy show called How to Be a Parisian in one hour. Honestly, it was hilarious! The show had a cheeky vibe, filled with innuendos and funny observations about Parisian life. If you’re looking for a fun and lighthearted experience, I highly recommend it.

We spent a fair bit of time just walking around, taking in the sights, and snapping pictures. That’s the beauty of Paris — you don’t need to plan every second. Sometimes, the best moments are the ones you stumble upon while wandering through the neighbourhoods.

Wine and Cheese, Please

To make the trip even more memorable, we booked a luxury wine and cheese tasting experience. It was everything you’d imagine: rich, indulgent, and oh-so-delicious. The selection of wines and cheeses was exceptional, and it felt like the perfect way to end a day in Paris. If you’re a fan of food and wine, it’s a must-do experience.

What We Missed Before we left, I had big dreams of taking a dinner cruise under the Eiffel Tower. However, after reading a few reviews, I wasn’t convinced it would be worth the cost. Instead, I was set on visiting Versailles — but, unfortunately, it was fully booked during our stay. It’s on my list for the next time, though!

The Verdict: Paris is as enchanting as ever, and the beauty of it lies in how much there is to see and do, even in just 48 hours. Whether you’re visiting for a quick romantic getaway or a longer trip, there’s something for everyone. And honestly, the best part was walking around the city, getting lost in its charm, and simply being in Paris.

Have you been? What was your favourite part of the city? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
